Expert Tips
- Cube the steak into evenly sized pieces for even and quick cooking.
- Do NOT overcrowd the pan otherwise the steak will not get a good sear.
- Let the bites sear for 1-2 minutes in the pan before turning them. Once you turn them the recipe will come together very quickly.
- Have everything you need ready to go and prepped in advance. This recipe does not take long to cook.
- If there is a lot of grease in the pan, degrease or blot some of it off using a paper towel. Do this before adding the garlic, soy sauce and butter.
How to Make
Step 1: Cube the steak into bite-sized pieces and add it to a mixing bowl. Season with kosher salt, cracked black pepper and a drizzle of avocado oil.
Step 2: Heat a sauté pan over medium high heat and add a drizzle of avocado oil. Once the oil is hot, add the steak bites. Do NOT overcrowd the pan. Sear the steak in the pan.
Step 3: Sear steak bites. If there is a lot of grease in the pan, degrease or blot some of it off using a paper towel. Do this before adding the garlic, soy sauce and butter.
Step 4: Once the bites are almost cooked to your liking, add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1 minute tossing the garlic with the steak.
Step 5: Next, add the low sodium soy sauce. Toss everything together and let the soy sauce reduce for 1-2 minutes. Finally, add the unsalted butter.

Oh this one is a weeknight win for sure! I threw it together and on the table in under 30 minutes. I made some rice noodles and a bag of frozen stir fry veggies and it was all gone! Husband and one year old approved!!
Yay! So glad you enjoyed!
I wanted to love this, as I’ve tried many of your recipes & thought they came out great, but the steak (sirloin top) came out chewy & the flavor wasn’t there either.
Sorry to hear that! You can always try tenderloin instead, typically sirloin can firm up if its cooked too long.
This recipe is delicious! I added mushrooms and will be making this recipe on repeat.
So glad you enjoyed, Cynthia!
Would coconut aminos be a good substitute for the low sodium soy? Just as a convenience if I don’t have soy sauce on hand at moment.
Yes, for sure!
