Ingredients Needed for Upside Down Apple Tarts

Puff Pastry Sheet – You’ll need one sheet of puff pastry for this recipe. Be sure to thaw the pastry at room temp for 30-40 minutes so it is easy to work with. Cut the pastry down in four rectangles, just make sure they are wide enough to cover the sliced apple.

Apple – You’ll need to thinly slice a honey crisp apple for this recipe. Be sure to use a mandolin slicer to ensure the apples are very thin and even. You’ll want them to be about 1/8th of an inch thick. This allows for quick, even cooking. Each tart gets three slices of apple, so you’ll need 12 slices total.

Maple Syrup – For this recipe, you’ll need 1 tablespoon of maple syrup per tart. You can also use honey or agave nectar, but I haven’t tested it.

Egg Wash – Combine one egg and one tablespoon of milk in a small mixing bowl. Whisk well.
