Homemade Chicken Fries
These homemade chicken fries remind me of Burger King’s chicken fries but way better! They’re perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy in the center. Dip them in your favorite sauce or tuck them inside of a wrap for a tasty sandwich.
Quick Homemade Ground Chicken
If you do not have ground chicken handy, you can simply add Smart Chicken chicken breasts or chicken tenderloins to a food processor and buzz until it is free from any large pieces. This is a hack I use often as my local grocer doesn’t always have Smart Chicken ground chicken in stock. As a result, I buzz up their chicken breasts or chicken tenderloins for a quick fix.
How to Make Homemade Chicken Fries
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside. Add ground chicken to a large mixing bowl. Season it with onion powder, garlic powder and salt. Add one tablespoon olive oil and mix everything until it’s well combined.
Wet your hands with water and form the fries. You want them to be about ¼ – ½ inch thick in diameter and about 4-5 inches long. Place the fries on the parchment paper. I was able to get 15-16 fries. Place the fries in the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
While the fries are freezing set up the breading station
Add cornstarch, salt, paprika, and black pepper to one plate. Then, add two whisked eggs to a second plate. Next, add panko breadcrumbs to a third plate.
Once lightly frozen, dredge the fries through the cornstarch mixture, then the whisked egg, followed by the panko breadcrumbs. Repeat this process for all fries making sure all sides are well breaded.
Heat a neutral oil in a large pan to 325 degrees. I used vegetable oil. Add two-three fries at a time making sure NOT to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown on all sides and cooked through to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the golden-brown fries on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil. Serve with favorite dipping sauce.
Storage
Store any leftover chicken fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for three to four days. Reheat in the microwave. Looking for more recipes?

can you freeze these after they are breaded, but not cooked?
I would think so, but I haven’t tried it….LMK if you give it a try!
Made these, well kind of. Used canned chicken. Drained it as best I could. Seasoned (minus salt) that is already in can. Still too wet after adding oil. Used some of beaten egg and added flour to dry it up and NOW was able to form them. Fried to perfection and really tasted great despite quite a bit of tweaking due to my deciding to “can it”. Maybe I will “can” doing it this same way next time. lol. Really was good though!
Hi! Looking forward to trying these but I don’t want to fry them. How long do you think these would cook in the airfryer/what changes do you think I should make?
This look absolutely amazing! I’m going to make them this week for sure. The kiddos are going to love them!
