Perfect for leftovers. We always have leftover ham during easter and Christmas. And this is a great way to reinvent the leftovers.
Easy to make. You only need one pan and a few ingredients to pull this recipe together.
Recipe Ingredients
- Butter – For this ham and cabbage recipe I used butter, but you could also use olive oil or avocado oil.
- Ham – Simply cube any leftover ham into bite-sized pieces. Add the cubed ham to the pan with the melted butter. Let the ham get slightly crispy on the outside. Do not use deli ham for this recipe. Whole ham is best.
- Onion – This recipe calls for yellow or sweet onion. Simply peel the onion and slice it into half moons. Option to dice it instead. Add the onion to the pan with the butter and the cubed ham. You’ll want the onions to get soft and slightly caramelized.
- Cabbage – Wash your cabbage and make sure it is dry. Core the cabbage and remove and hard pieces. Slice the cabbage into easy to eat bite-sized pieces. Add it to the pan with the other ingredients.
- Seasoning – Add a few turns of cracked black pepper to this recipe. You most likely will not need salt since the ham is already salty. However, you can add a pinch of kosher salt if you prefer.
Variations
