Frequently Asked Questions FAQ’s

What Alcohol Goes Best with Watermelon? Watermelon margaritas are commonly made with tequila. If you ask me, this is a match made in heaven.

How Do You Make Frozen Margaritas That Aren’t Runny? If you’re struggling with a margarita that comes out runny every time, you’ll be surprised to learn that it could be your frozen ingredients OR your equipment!

The frozen watermelon and ice cubes should remain completely frozen until blended. If either ingredient starts to thawl, you will have a smoothie texture versus a frozen margarita texture. Serve these drinks immediately, as they don’t re-freeze well and won’t stay frozen for too long on a hot day!

It is important to use a high-powered blender. Using the right equiptment will take your margaritas to the next level. Be sure to press the frozen watermelon down into the blade using the mini tamper tool that comes in with the machine.

What is Tajin? Tajin is a Mexican spice blend made from dried chilies, salt and lime. It is commonly used to season fruit, rim margaritas and sometimes used in marinades. It has a sweet and sour flavor profile that most people enjoy.

Ingredients Needed for Frozen Watermelon Margaritas

Watermelon – Carefully remove the rind from the fresh watermelon and cube it into smaller sized pieces. Add the cubed watermelon to a sealable container and place it in the freezer overnight. For best results, ensure the watermelon is fully frozen.

Tequila – I like using a Blanco tequila. Patron or Casamigos are two great options. That said, any blanco tequila that you enjoy most will work well.

Lime Juice – Be sure to use fresh lime juice. The fresh squeezed lime really takes this recipe to the next level. Handy citrus juicer.

Orange Juice – The hint of orange juice tastes great in this recipe. Make sure it is fresh squeezed juice for the best results. The fresh squeezed orange juice is a great substitute for triple sec which can be sugary. Handy citrus juicer.

Honey – Add a touch of honey for an extra hint of natural sweetness.

Ice – You’ll need a handful of cubes. I added about 10-12 cubes.

Sriracha Powder / Tajin – Combine sriracha powder and tajin on a small plate. This adds the perfect kick to complement the frozen margarita.
