When you want something sweet but don’t want to undo your entire day, try this Healthyish grilled banana split. The ripe (but not mushy) banana caramelizes and slightly chars over the open flame on the grill, leaving behind the most delicious Healthyish dessert. Topped with a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips, fresh fruit and a drizzle of nut butter, this recipe is hard to beat.
How to Make Healthyish Grilled Banana Split
Preheat the grill to 375-400 degrees. Slice the stem off the banana, then slice the banana in half, lengthwise. Be sure to keep the banana peel intact. Thicker bananas work best.
Brush the grill grates with avocado or grapeseed oil right before you add the banana, fruit side down. Grill for 3-4 minutes, and carefully flip the banana. You can use tongs if the banana is thick, or you can use a spatula if the banana is on the skinnier side. Once flipped, grill for 30-60 more seconds.
Remove the banana from the grill and place it on a serving bowl. Top with mini chocolate chips, sliced strawberry, blueberries, and a drizzle of nut butter. Best enjoyed immediately!
