Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ½ honey crisp apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Equipment

  • 1 parchment lined baking tray

Instructions

  • Thaw one sheet of puff pastry dough for 30-40 minutes at room temp. Preheat the oven to 380 degrees. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Using a mandolin, thinly slice 12 pieces of honey crispy apple. You’ll need three pieces per tart.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the puff pastry into 4 rectangles. Just make sure the pastry dough is wide enough to cover the apples.
  • Combine one egg and one tablespoon of milk in a small mixing bowl to form an egg wash. Whisk well.

Assemble

  • Add one tablespoon of maple syrup to the prepared baking tray. Top with three slices of apple, followed by one rectangle of puff pastry. Repeat for all four puff pastry rectangles. Press the edges of the puff pastry down using a fork. Brush with egg wash and place in the oven for 18-20 minutes.
  • Once the pastries are cool to touch, flip them over and broil for 1-2 minutes for an extra crispy top. Dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
