Storage

Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container on the countertop. They will stay fresh for 4-5 days. You can also freeze these cookies for 30-60 days. Just make sure the cookies are in an airtight bag or container. I also like to separate the layers with wax paper. This helps prevent them from freezing together.

Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms

This classic peanut butter blossom cookie recipe is the perfect holiday cookie. Easy to make and delicious, you have to try these homemade cookies.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons 2% milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups AP flour, all purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 48 Hershey kisses – unwrapped

Equipment

  • cookie tray
  • 2 mixing bowls

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shortening and peanut butter.
  • Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/3 cup light brown sugar; beat until fluffy.
  • Add 1 egg, milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, combine your dry ingredients. Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
    Next, you will slowly mix this into your peanut butter mixture until everything is well blended.
  • Shape the dough into 1 inch balls. Then, roll them in granulated sugar. Place them on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until they are lightly browned.
  • Once the cookies are fully baked, remove them from the oven and immediately press one chocolate kiss into the center of the cookie. They will slightly melt and adhere to the cookie as they cool.
