Loaded with lean and juicy ground chicken, onions, chilies, black beans and cheese, this easy tostada recipe comes together in no time. What’s great, is that you can add whatever toppings you enjoy most too. Avocado, cilantro, salsa or sour cream would all work well.

Ingredients Needed for Ground Chicken Tostadas

Olive Oil – You’ll need olive oil to sauté the onions, garlic, ground chicken and green chilies.

Onions – For this recipe, you’ll need about 1 cup or one medium sized yellow or sweet onion diced small.

Garlic – You can use minced garlic or garlic paste for this recipe. You’ll need two teaspoons or about 1-2 cloves.

Ground Chicken – For this recipe, I used Smart Chicken’s ground chicken. It’s lean and delicious.

Seasoning – Add 2-3 tablespoons of taco seasoning to the ground chicken mixture.

Diced Green Chiles – You’ll need to add one, 4-ounce can of diced green chilies to the chicken mixture.

Tostadas – For this recipe, I used store-bought tajin flavored tostadas and they worked great. The tajin added an extra layer of flavor that is hard to resist. However, plain tostadas work well too.

Refried Black Beans – Heat about one cup of refried black beans in a small pot. Heat according to the directions on the package.

Shredded Cheese – For this recipe, you can use whatever shredded cheese you enjoy most. Cotija cheese would work well too. I used shredded cheddar but mozzarella or a combined of both would work too.

Lime Crema or Sour Cream – Option to add a dollop of lime crema or sour cream.

Cilantro – Finish the tostadas with fresh cilantro. If you’re not a cilantro fan, you can use sliced green onions or avocado instead.

How to Make Ground Chicken Tostadas

Heat the refried black beans in a small sauce pot over the stovetop. Follow the directions given on the can.

Next, heat a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat and add olive oil.

Add diced onions and garlic. Sauté until soft and lightly browned.

Then, add the ground chicken and taco seasoning. Mix well. Make sure the chicken is fully cooked through.

Finally, add the diced green chilies. Stir well and saute for 1-2 more minutes. Remove the chicken mixture from the heat.

Assemble the Tostadas

Grab one tajin flavored tostada. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the warmed refried black beans.

Pile on the chicken mixture. Top with cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.

Repeat for all tostadas.

Storage

Best enjoyed immediately. Store any extra chicken mixture, beans, cheese or tostadas in separate airtight containers, if possible. Store all containers in the refrigerator for two to three days. Reheat in the microwave.

Instructions
