Ingredients Needed Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches

Bread – For this recipe, you’ll need six English muffins. I use Bay’s English muffins, but you can use any English muffin you enjoy most.

Eggs – You’ll need one dozen eggs for this recipe. Be sure to whisk the eggs well and season them with salt and pepper.

Cheese – You can use any cheese you enjoy most for this recipe. I added sliced American cheese to half of the sandwiches and sliced Swiss cheese to the other half.

Meat – You can add any protein you enjoy most. Bacon, sausage or sliced ham work perfectly. Just make sure the protein is cooked before adding it to the sandwich. If adding ham, give it a light sear in a hot pan before adding it to the sandwich. This adds more flavor to the meat.

Pro Tips for These Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches

Add the cheese as the bottom layer of the sandwich. So it goes, uncooked English muffin bottom, slice of cheese, cooked egg square, lightly browned ham and top of the muffin. This will prevent the cheese from getting burnt in the air fryer when reheating.

Heat a non-stick skillet and lightly brown your ham. This light sear will add extra flavor to your sandwich.

When thawing you’ll need to place the sandwiches in the refrigerator for at least 18 hours to ensure the egg has time to completely thaw.

How to Store Freezer Egg Sandwiches

Once all the ingredients have cooled, and the sandwiches have been assembled, wrap each sandwich tightly in foil. Place all the foil wrapped sandwiches in a freezer safe bag (remove as much air from the bag as possible) and freeze for up to one month.

How to Reheat Freezer Egg Sandwiches

Place your sandwich(s) in the refrigerator overnight to thaw. They’ll need at least 18 hours to fully thaw in the refrigerator. This is because the egg is thicker in these sandwiches.

Air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees. Unwrap the sandwich and place it in the air fryer. Leave it in the foil, but make sure the foil is unwrapped. Remove the top muffin and place it next to the sandwich in the air fryer. This allows the top to get extra crispy. Cook at 375 degrees for 5 minutes. For extra melty cheese, place the sandwich on a plate (remove the foil entirely) and microwave for an additional 20 seconds.

Microwave: Option to skip the air fryer and just microwave the sandwich for 40-50 seconds. Please note, the muffin does not get crispy like it does when you heat the sandwich in the air fryer.

How to Make Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grab a 8×5-inch baking dish and spray it with non-stick olive oil spray. Set aside.

Add 12 eggs to a mixing bowl and whisk them well. Season with of salt and black pepper. Mix well. Pour the whisked eggs into the prepared 8×5-inch baking dish.

Carefully add the 8×5-inch baking dish to a larger baking dish. Add water to the larger dish to form a bath. You’ll want the water to reach halfway up the 8×5-inch dish. Be careful to NOT get water in the dish with the eggs.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the eggs are completely set in the center. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool.

Assemble the Sandwiches

Once all ingredients have cooled, add one slice of cheese to the bottom uncooked muffin, followed by a square of egg, lightly browned ham and the top of the muffin.

Wrap each sandwich tightly in foil and add the sandwiches to a freezer safe bag. Freeze for up to one month. Reheating instructions listed above.
