Growing up I always loved Halloween. Maybe because it meant we were getting closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas OR perhaps it was all the candy! Either way, I always loved dressing up in my handmade costume and making memories with my family. Not to mention, Halloween always meant we would get loads and loads of tasty treats! From the caramel apples at Soergels Orchard to the homemade pumpkin seeds, Halloween was always such a fun holiday. That’s why this year I thought it would be fun to create some Healthyish Ghost Cakes to add to the list of DIY memories. These cakes are super easy and make a great activity for the entire family.
Healthyish Baking Kit
Baking Directions: Serves 2
These instructions will teach you how to make 2 Healthyish Ghost Cakes but you can make as many as you would like. (depending on the size of your Healthyish Baking Kit)
First, you are going to grab two cake mix pouches and two paper baking cups from your Healthyish organic baking kit. You will open the cake mix pouches and add them to a cereal bowl or small mixing bowl. Next, you will add 4 Tablespoons of 2% milk and 2 Tablespoon of slightly melted unsalted butter. Mix well and evenly distribute the batter between the two paper baking cups. Place in the oven for 12 -13 minutes at 350 degrees.
While the cakes are baking you will grab 2 jumbo marshmallows and 2 packs of dark chocolate chips from your baking kit. Lightly stab 2 slits into the marshmallows and gently press two dark choclate chips into the slits to make the Ghosts’ eyes. These slits will help keep the choclate chips secure to the Ghosts’ face.
Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. Grab 2 packs of vanilla bean frosting from your baking kit and set them aside. Chop up the remaining dark chocolate chips into small pieces. These will be the “gravel” for the ghost to sit on.
Once the cakes are cool, frost them and be sure to spread the frosting all the way out to the edge of the cakes. Next, you will secure your ghosts on top of each cake. To finish them, lightly sprinkle the chopped chocolate chips on top. And there you have it – two Healthyish Ghost Cakes!
