I wanted to share 3 Healthyish techniques to de-stress your mind and body because we all have had THOSE days. You know, those days when nothing seems to be going right. Whether the car won’t start or you forgot your laptop before a big presentation or your kids are acting like they might be from another planet. The good news is that we’ve all been there but how do you find balance on days like this? I am going to share the 3 Healthyish techniques that I personally use to de-stress myself and live a more balanced life.
It’s probably the last thing you will feel like doing but honestly it will help. I am not a doctor, but I do know that when you exercise your body supplies more oxygenated blood to your muscles and body. Physical activity also stimulates various chemicals in your brain which can leave you feeling more relaxed. I am not suggesting that you need to go and run a marathon, but I try to at least get in a brisk walk and let my brain reset itself.
- Take a Break
When I am stressed I will get up and walk away from whatever is making me feel upset or frustrated. Now if it’s your boss, you might want to stay seated. Haha But getting up and taking 5 minutes to yourself is always a great way to collect your thoughts and de-stress. I find that when I take a break, I think more clearly about the situation at hand and make better decisions.
If you are in a situation where you can’t take a break or get in some exercise, try taking some deep controlled breaths. When I use this technique I immediately feel better. I feel like I have control over my body and mind. It helps me to refocus my energy and calm myself. Not to mention, you are giving your brain some much needed oxygen.
So, try these de-stressing techniques the next time you need to find balance in your life. Hopefully they will help you as much as they help me.
